Tiruvannamalai, 14 th May, 2025: Ramraj Cotton, India’s leading company in traditional and
cultural dhoti production, has successfully completed the installation of a protective fence
along the revered 14-kilometer Girivalam path encircling Arunachala Mountain in
Tiruvannamalai. The initiative, undertaken at a cost of Rs. 35 lakh, aims to enhance the
safety of pilgrims and protect surrounding farmlands from wildlife intrusion.
The Girivalam path is a spiritually significant route, walked daily by thousands of devotees as
part of their religious observance. In recent times, increased wildlife movement along the
path has posed safety risks to pilgrims and have caused damage to agricultural land. The
newly installed fencing addresses these concerns, offering a safer environment for both
devotees and farmers.
Mr. K.R. Nagarajan, Founder and Chairman of Ramraj Cotton, stated, “It is everyone’s duty
to protect sacred spaces. With this project, we have brought together spiritual well-being,
agricultural safety, and environmental balance. This fence will safeguard pilgrims, support
farmers, and allow wildlife to remain undisturbed in its natural habitat. This is the kind of
