சென்னை வண்ணாரபேட்டையில் ஏழை மக்களுக்கு மிகக் குறைந்த கட்டணத்தில், மருத்துவம் பார்த்து பிரபலமான டாக்டர் S ஜெயச்சந்திரன் அவர்களின் மனைவி மற்றும் பிரபல மகேப்பேறு மருத்துவர் திருமதி C வேணி அவர்கள், இன்று காலை மாரடைப்பு காரணமாக மரணமடைந்தார்.
திருமதி C வேணி 1953 ஆம் வருடம் சின்னக்கண்ணு, புண்ணியகோடி தமபதியருக்கு கடைசி மகளாக பிறந்தார். சென்னையின் பிரபல KMC கல்லூரியில் மருத்துவ படிப்பை Gynaecology பிரிவில் முடித்தார். பின்னர் மருத்துவ கல்லூரி துறையில் தலைவராக ( HOD ) RSRM மற்றும் வேலூர் மருத்துவ கல்லூரிகளில் 40 வருடங்கள் பணியாற்றினார். மேலும், ராஜீவ்காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனையின் கண்காணிப்பாளராக பணியாற்றினார். தமிழ்நாடு எம் ஜி ஆர் மருத்துவகல்லூரியில் Controller of Examinations ஆக பணியாற்றியவர், மகப்பேறு மருத்துவம் மற்றும் மகளிருக்கான மருத்துவத்தில் புகழ் பெற்ற நிபுணராக திகழ்ந்தார்.
தனது கணவர் டாக்டர் S ஜெயச்சந்திரன் அவர்களைப் போலவே, வண்ணாரபேட்டை, காசிமேடு பகுதிகளில் பெண்களுக்கு மகப்பேறு மருத்துவ பணிகள் செய்து பிரபலமடைந்தார். இதுவரையிலும் 1 லட்சத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பெண்களுக்கு மகப்பேறு பணிகள் செய்துள்ளார்.
மக்களுக்கு 5 ரூபாய் கட்டணத்தில் மருத்துவம் செய்து, இந்தியப்பிரதமர் மாண்மிகு திரு மோடி அவர்களாலும், தமிழக முதல்வர் மாண்புமிகு திரு மு க ஸ்டாலின் அவர்களாலும் பாராட்டப்பெற்ற திரு டாக்டர் S ஜெயச்சந்திரன் அவர்களின் மறைவைத் தொடர்ந்து, அவர் விட்டுச் சென்ற சமூக பணிகள், அவர் வாழ்ந்த இடத்தில் அவரது குடும்பத்தார் மூலம், தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.
டாக்டர் திருமதி வேணி ஜெயச்சந்திரன் அவர்கள் இன்று 18.08.2025 காலை 6.15 மணி அளவில் மாரடைப்பு காரணமாக மரணமடைந்தார். அவரது உடல் பொதுமக்கள் அஞ்சலிக்காக வெங்கடாச்சலம் தெரு, பழைய வண்ணாரபேட்டை, சென்னை 21 என்ற முகவரியில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. நாளை 19/08/2025 காலை 10 மணிக்கு அவர்களின் உடல் ஊர்வலமாக கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டு காசிமேடு இடுகாட்டில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்படுகிறது.

Chennai, 13 December: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sri Yogi Adityanath, is dedicated to making Mahakumbh 2025 a global symbol of India’s cultural unity. As part of this endeavor and vision, Minister of State (Independent Charge)- Cooperative, Shri Jayendra Pratap Singh Rathore andMinister of State (Independent Charge)- Shri Asim Arun led a grand roadshow in Tamil Nadu. He highlighted the Mahakumbh as a unique celebration of unity within India’s diversity and extended an invitation to the Hon. Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri RN Ravi, Hon. Chief Minister Shri M. K. Stalin, and the esteemed people of Tamil Nadu to participate in the Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025. They emphasized that the government is taking significant steps to ensure the event is historic, featuring international participation and state-of-the-art facilities. Speaking to the media after the roadshow, Shri Singh stated that the Mahakumbh embodies the spirit of India’s cultural and spiritual consciousness and is a divine and vibrant representation of ‘Ek Bharat- Shreshth Bharat-Samaveshi Bharat (One India, Great India, Inclusive India).’
During the press conference, the Cooperatives Ministerreminded, “Many of you may have witnessed the ‘divine and grand’ experience of the Prayagraj Kumbh in 2019, which became an indelible symbol of India’s cultural pride on the global stage. The world widely acknowledged the efficient management of the event.” He further emphasized that this year’s Mahakumbh will surpass the previous one in both grandeur and divine essence. Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 is expected to welcome over 450 million pilgrims, saints, ascetics, and tourists. In preparation, the Uttar Pradesh government has made meticulous and timely arrangements.
During his address to the press, the Shri Rathore informed, “Under the inspiration and guidance of Honorable PrimeMinister Shri Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, the Mahakumbh will take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025, on the sacred banks of the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Mahakumbh will once again be held on the holy land of Prayag after a gap of 12 years.”
Swachh, Swasth, Surakshit and Harit Mahakumbh
Addressing the media regarding the preparations for the Mahakumbh, the Cooperatives Minister said, “It would be a clean, healthy, safe and digital Mahakumbh. A pledge has been taken to make the event environment friendly by declaring it a single-use plastic-free Mahakumbh. As part of this initiative, various shops of dona-pattal vendors will be allocated within the Mela area, and meetings have been conducted with principals of 400 schools to discuss cleanliness and the initiative of a clean Maha Kumbh is being communicated to 4 lakh children and 5 times the population of Prayagraj. Furthermore, under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, the message of a single-use plastic-free environment is being delivered to every household.”
He highlighted that special emphasis has been placed on making Mahakumbh Mela 2025 both clean and green. Approximately three lakh plants have been cultivated across Prayagraj, with the Uttar Pradesh government pledging to ensure their care and maintenance even after the conclusion of the Mela.
Comprehensive healthcare services for pilgrims, sadhus, saints, and tourists
The Cooperatives Minister informed that the preparations for the Mahakumbh Mela are being made with a focus on health and hygiene. This includes making healthcare arrangements for pilgrims, sadhus, saints, those observing Kalpwas at Mahakumbh and tourists. A large number of specialist doctors have been deployed. A 100-bed hospital has been set up at the Parade Ground. Two more hospitals with 20 beds each and smaller hospitals with 8 beds have also been prepared. Two 10-bed ICUs have been set up by the Army Hospital at the Mela area and Arail. These hospitals will have doctors on duty 24 hours a day. In total, there will be 291 MBBS doctors and specialists, 90 Ayurvedic and Unani specialists, and 182 nursing staff. Moreover, separate wards for male, female and children have been set up in these hospitals. Delivery rooms, emergency wards and doctors’ rooms will also be available.
Devotees will also experience the digital Mahakumbh – Shri JPS Rathore
Addressing the press, the Minister of State (Independent Charge)- Shri Asim Arun stated that the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to organizing a divine, grand, and digital Maha Kumbh. The preparations include the launch of a dedicated website and app, an AI-powered chatbot in 11 languages, QR-based passes for people and vehicles, a multilingual digital lost-and-found center, ICT monitoring for cleanliness and tents, software for land and facility allocation, multilingual digital signage (VMD), an automated ration supply system, drone-based surveillance and disaster management, live software for monitoring 530 projects, an inventory tracking system, and integration of all locations on Google Maps.
Smart parking facilities will be provided for the convenience of tourists – Shri Asim Arun
The Social Welfare Minister informed that arrangements have been made to ensure tourists do not face parking issues. In this regard, 101 smart parking facilities have been created, capable of accommodating up to five lakh vehicles daily. The parking area spans 1,867.04 hectares, which is 763.75 hectares larger compared to the 1,103.29 hectares allocated for parking in 2019. These parking facilities will be monitored through the Integrated Control Command Center.

During the press conference, the Cooperatives Ministerprovided details about the arrangements for the Mahakumbh. He informed that 35 existing permanent ghats and 9 new ghats have been constructed in the Mahakumbh city to facilitate bathing for devotees. Aerial flower showers will be carried out across all 44 ghats spread over a 12-kilometer area. He further mentioned that a riverfront, modeled after Mumbai’s Marine Drive, has been developed along a 15.25-kilometer stretch on the banks of the Ganges, extending from the Sangam to Nagvasuki Temple, Surdas to Chhatnag, and near Curzon Bridge to Mahavir Puri. Additionally, the Integrated Control Command Center has been upgraded to enhance crowd management. Four viewing centers, equipped with 52-seater setups, have been established for real-time CCTV monitoring.
Headcount of pilgrims attending the Mahakumbh will be done through technology
The Cooperatives Minister stated that approximately 450 million devotees are expected to attend Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025, marking a significant milestone. Three technical methods will be used to count every individual.
The first method is attribute-based search, where tracking will be conducted using person attribute search cameras. The second method involves RFID wristbands, which will be provided to pilgrims. Through these wristbands, entry and exit times will be tracked using RFID readers. The third method is mobile app tracking, where, with the consent of the pilgrims, their location will be tracked through GPS using a mobile application.

இந்த நிகழ்வின் முக்கியமான அறிவிப்பாக உலகின் முதல் ‘தமிழ் ஒலிம்பியாட்’ துவங்கப்பட்டது. ஆங்கிலம், கணிதம், அறிவியல் போன்ற துறைகளுக்கு நடத்தப்படும் உலகளாவிய ஒலிம்பியாடை உலகெங்கும் உள்ள தமிழ் மாணவர்கள் எழுதும் வண்ணம் கார்க்கி தமிழ்க் கழகமும் Silver Zone அமைப்பும் இணைந்து இந்த தமிழ் ஒலிம்பியாடை நடத்துகின்றன.
தமிழ்நாடெங்கும் இருந்து வந்திருந்த பள்ளிகளின் மாணவர்களின் முன்னிலையில் ‘தமிழ் ஒலிம்பியாட்’ அறிமுகம் செய்யப்பட்டது. மாணவர்களின் பலத்த கைதட்டலுக்கிடையில் இந்த அறிமுகம் நிகழ்ந்தது. WASC மற்றும் AIAASC அமைப்பின் நிர்வாகிகள் கல்வியாளர்கள் முனைவர் மோகனலட்சுமி, முனைவர் செந்தில், மற்றும் குமரேஷ் அவர்களோடு இணைந்து மேடையில் மதன் கார்க்கியும் நந்தினி கார்க்கியும் அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட்டனர்.
ஃபியூச்சர் ஆஃப் எஜ்ஜுகேஷன் மாநாட்டில் கல்வியின் எதிர்காலம் குறித்து, பயிற்று முறை, உணவு, தேர்வு முறை போன்ற பல்வேறு தலைப்புகளில் கல்வியாளர்கள் உரையாற்றினர். சிறந்த பள்ளிகளுக்கான விருதுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

Chennai, 3rd October 2024: In commemoration of World Space Week, Northern Uni today signed a strategic MoU with Space Kidz India to launch a collaborative student-led satellite project, marking a monumental step in space education for the northern region of Sri Lanka. The MoU was signed in the city in the presence of Dr. Prafulla Kumar Jain, Director – InSpace Ahmedabad, Mr. Indy Pathmanathan, Chairman – SLIIT Northern Uni, Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Founder & CEO – SpaceKidz India, Ms. Alma Okpalefe, Executive Director – World Space Week Association and Dr. Saranya Jaikumar, Educational Psychologist, symbolizing the region’s first foray into space technology. This ambitious project will bring together students from both Northern Uni and Government schools in Jaffna, along with students from India, to jointly design, develop, and launch a satellite. The satellite will carry sophisticated instruments aimed at studying the space atmosphere and demonstrating cutting-edge communication technologies. This collaborative effort helmed by Northern Uni is expected to yield invaluable data for scientific research while showcasing the technological prowess of student innovators from both nations. This project also offers students a firsthand exposure to satellite technology and also the chance to participate in groundbreaking research that has the potential to contribute innovative solutions to global challenges. The initiative will equip students with essential skills in satellite development, data analysis, and communication technologies, preparing them for future careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. By engaging in this landmark project, students from both countries will play a role in advancing space research and promoting technological innovation that benefits society. Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Indy Pathmanathan, Chairman SLIIT Northern Uni, said, “This initiative is a giant leap for both Sri Lanka and India in cultivating a culture of scientific collaboration and mutual innovation. Our students, the future citizens of both nations, will gain unparalleled exposure to the intricacies of satellite technology. What excites me most is the way this project fosters cross-border collaboration among students from different backgrounds, cultures, and educational systems. They will not only develop advanced skills in science and engineering but also learn the value of teamwork and shared goals. Through this project, we are building not just a satellite, but a future where innovation knows no borders.” Adding to this Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of Space Kidz India, said, “This project represents a shared vision for both India and Sri Lanka—one that sees education, technology, and space exploration as tools for uniting people and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. By engaging students from
both countries, we are planting the seeds of a future generation that will work collaboratively on global challenges. These young minds will become the torchbearers of scientific progress, and their participation in building and launching this satellite is just the beginning. Space technology is an incredibly powerful platform, and through this project, we aim to inspire students to look beyond geographical boundaries and become true innovators and leaders in space science.” The project is structured into two key phases. Phase 1 will focus on training students in space science and technology, with 50 school students from Sri Lanka, 10 school students from India, and 50 college students undergoing comprehensive training. This phase is designed to give participants a foundational understanding of satellite development and space missions, offering a rich educational experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical insights. Phase 2 will involve 30 college students from Sri Lanka who will be directly engaged in building, integrating, and preparing the satellite for its eventual launch. The collaborative process will allow them to work alongside Indian experts and their peers, gaining hands-on experience in satellite construction. Furthermore, 15 college students and 50 school students from Sri Lanka will travel to India to witness the satellite launch, creating a powerful learning opportunity that will inspire future generations to pursue careers in space science and technology.
