Chennai, October 8, 2024: The Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation’s (ICAF’s) Chennai International Film Festival, Chennai, and Ethiraj College for Women have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at 9:30 AM today in the Ethiraj College premises. This partnership aims to promote and enhance film education and appreciation among students through various initiatives.
The MoU was signed by Mr. AVM K. Shanmugam, General Secretary and Festival Director of ICAF/CIFF and Thiru. V.M. Muralidharan, Chairman of Ethiraj College, and, in the presence of Dr. S. Uma Gowrie, Principal, and Secretary, Ms. M. Vijaya, Vice-Principal (Aided), Mr. S. Prakash, Treasurer of ICAF and Ms. Abhinaya. G, Executive Committee Member, ICAF, marked the beginning of a collaboration that will provide students with exposure to the art and culture of cinema through film screenings, workshops, guest lectures, and film festivals hosted in collaboration with Chennai International Film Festival.
Ethiraj College for Women is committed to broadening the educational experience of its students, and this MoU underscores its dedication to fostering a holistic learning environment. ICAF, a renowned organization promoting film culture in India, is excited to bring its wealth of knowledge and expertise to the next generation of cinephiles. ICAF has been hosting the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) for the past 21 years, creating a platform for diverse voices in world cinema.
As part of its vision for the Chennai International Film Festival 2024, ICAF aims to engage more student audiences, recognizing the importance of nurturing young minds through cinematic education. This year’s festival will focus on connecting with a wider student crowd by hosting special screenings, masterclasses, and interactive sessions that bridge academic learning and film appreciation. Chennai International Film Festival, showcasing over 100 films from 50+ countries, continues to be a vibrant celebration of global cinema, inviting students to explore the power of film as an educational and cultural medium.
