Indian film producer Kalol Das hosted a Producers Meet with The Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDBM). At the interactive session organised in Chennai, various advantages of Mauritius as a destination for film shooting were highlighted.
The event attended by Honorary Consul of Mauritius Malaiappan Nagalingam saw the participation of many leading producers and other stakeholders of Tamil film industry.
During the event, it was explained to the producers that Mauritius is not just a picturesque place with many wonderful locations for film shoot, but the country also offers unparalleled benefits to filmmakers.
Welcoming Tamil film producers and directors to shoot their projects in Mauritius, EDBM officials said that Mauritius government will give a subsidy of 30-40 percent of the total budget of the film shot there.
The highlight is ‘Above The Line’ subsidy known as ATL, which covers the cast and crew including Actors and heads of departments like Art Director, Director, Director of Photography, and Production Manager.
Not just that, Mauritius government will also offer free locations to the film crews at its own properties. Line production services will be provided by Kalol Das.
The subsidy process is very simple and it will be processed within 60 days after submitting the accounts. For project approval, it will take around 45 days.
Tamil cinema personalities who attended the event were impressed by the facilities and financial assistance provided by Mauritius and expressed interest in shooting their films there.
